Handcuffs are a non-lethal tool featured in Emergency Hamburg, exclusively available to police officers.
They were initially introduced within the Beta Release 0.5.0 Update in May 2022.
Police officers can use the handcuffs to detain wanted players within a specific range, and transport them to jail.
To use the handcuffs, officers must:
Police officers now receive 50%
of the usual XP upon detaining a suspect, with the remaining 50%
awarded once the criminal is successfully arrested at the prison.

i.e fully arresting a 5 star player would earn the officer 60 XP
Police officers now have two options when they cuff a wanted player:
Detain
the player will be unable to sprint, equip any items, or interact with anything
Release
the player will be fully released
If an officer, who is holding a cuffed suspect, equips another item, is ragdolled, or is killed, the wanted player will now become detained, rather than being released; as was the case in previous versions.
As of the Version 3.10.0 in April 2025, officers can now cuff downed wanted players. If the player is been revived by a medic, they will be automatically enter the detained state, where they are unable to sprint, or equip any items.
However, if the wanted player respawns, they will be fully released.
Nearby officers will now receive shared XP when a criminal is cuffed, preventing people from 'stealing arrests'
Officers can now place detained suspects into locked vehicles, which was not previously possible
